You have all the fun of working with other players to defeat the other side, whether it is AI or other players, without any of the stress or potential problems that can often arise with more adult orientated online gaming. These remain very kid-friendly, one button to switch off other players audio and (reassuringly) still no text typing within game. There are 2 access points to access familiar and new types of game. The online multiplayer part also feels much better. You could spend many happy hours working on upgrading each character, unlocking and developing skills. This has been completely updated with ladder progressions, new abilities unlocked in a more interesting way and side challenges with various 'agents'. On the original game, the progression and challenges were too easy to skip through with 'skip challenge' cards and had far less meaning. There is a great room where all your unlocked characters are displayed as little trophies in plant pots and each have all the stats and individual levels and progression available to see. Whereas the original game has an opening screen with drop-down menus to select between different playing modes, this version has a walk-around interactive back garden with lots to find and explore. They have completely overhauled the content and introduced much more to do and explore. The sounds effects and catch phrases (particularly with some of the zombie characters) are very funny.
